VERBIER
Verbier is an uber-fashionable resort, renowned for its challenging off-piste routes, elegant chalets and vibrant nightlife. Although much improved over the last few years, it still lacks extensive, long on piste Intermediate runs that are so popular with Corporates. The groups we have taken have still thoroughly enjoyed the resort and the skiing but don’t tend to return year in/year out as can be the case with some other resorts. Having said that, Verbier should be on every Corporate list as a ‘must-do’ and will not disappoint, especially the superb nightlife.
Resort Information
Accommodation
The Swiss high minimum wage has had quite an impact in Verbier, which boasts a large number of chalets throughout. Nevertheless, Verbier is unashamedly upmarket and, as such, the chalets tend to be at the upper end of the price spectrum. Other than chalets, there are two 5* and five 4* hotels, led by the 5* W Verbier, which sits beautifully at the end of the Medran home run but the excellent location is more than reflected in the price.
Skiing
There are wooded slopes directly above the village, but the runs here are basically just a way home at the end of the day. There is more sheltered woodland skiing in other sectors of the 4 Valleys – particularly above Veysonnaz – but these are linked in name only as they require a bit of work to reach. Verbier itself only has 90km of runs but, that said, the skiing is enjoyable as is the resort and ideal for the 3/4 days which our Corporate groups desire.
Apres Ski/Nightlife
Apres begins on the slopes at Rocks or the Bar 1936 yurts and continues in town at the W on piste bar opposite the hotel at Medran, Rouge with it’s large sun terrace and resident DJ and Farinet with it’s live bands. Crock No Name is a cool cocktail bar and T-Bar is great for sporting events such as the Six Nations, etc. Later in the evening, Fer a Cheval and the Farm Club, Verbier’s oldest and most famous, keep the resort swinging into the early hours.
